I believe that Growth mindset is the integral part of Growth Hacking.
If someone’s growth hacking process does not include growth mindset, they can’t be a real growth hacker, but why? The very simple answer of this question is because they cannot think “out of the box” or perform the same strategies again and again to get growth. The growth mindset gives the ability of resilience, learning, and persistence.
What is Growth Mindset?
Growth mindset in its simplistic form can be described as the ability to think that the abilities can be enhanced. Growth mindset believes that intelligence and abilities can be developed through effort, persistence, trying different strategies and learning from mistakes. The term Growth mindset is coined by Carol Dweck, the American psychologist, The writer of best-selling book “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success”.

How do I develop a growth hacking mindset within myself?
There are many techniques which help to develop the growth mindset within ourselves. The first, and the most important step is to discover or highlight the fixed mindset areas within yourself. For this purpose, we have developed some self-reflection exercises, which are solely based on how you can identify the fixed-mindset. And then there are set of activities and exercises which help to change your fixed mindset areas to growth mindset areas. The process of shifting is a bit long, it takes time and efforts. But once it done, you can feel the power of growth mindset within you.
Is it important to make a growth mindset environment in your company?
Well YES! The employees are the most integral part of your business. If they improve themselves, it will improve your business. After working in Finnish environment, I found that people need growth mindset training and consulting very much. After years and years of working in the same job. They become use to it and cannot produce something “out of the box” because of their limited exposure of the knowledge and updates.
It’s sad, but it’s true!
As I mentioned earlier, the process of growth mindset is long and systematic as well. But for my readers I am giving few useful tips:
- Start with discussion with respect to new tools and technology.
- Give your employees time, tactics, tools or task so that they try to learn and apply
- Try not to tell them what to do, rather start the discussion “what do you think we can do here”
- Try focusing on improving their independence and self-reliance
- Dedicate some time in a week for open idea discussion.
- Set learning goals and give incentives for learning new thing.
- Stop appreciating them with “you did a great job” and rather appreciate them by questioning “ Wow! how you do this”

The very essential element in growth hacking and growth mindset is learning through keep on trying things. We can also say, the ability of resilience. The ability of resilience gives us the motivation to increase knowledge and experimenting with being afraid of failure.
As Growth hacking is becoming the buzz word nowadays and people are getting jobs with this title. I am afraid that soon it might lose its true essence. All the techniques which we learn in growth hacking become useless if you don’t have growth mindset. How you can grow someone’s business, when you don’t even know how to grow yourself.
